Grey Mold
Caused by Botrytis cinerea, grey mold is a fungal disease with low temperature and high humidity. Flowers, fruits, leaves and stems can be infected.
Symptoms:
Grey mold’s feature is a light seedling color, leaves and petioles are gray white with water stains, and tissues are softened to rot. When the humidity increase, grey mold grows on the surface the young stems often have irregular waterlogged spots at the base of the petiole, which soon become soft and rotted, constricted or collapsed, and finally, the diseased seedlings rotted and died.
Occurrence regularity:
Overwintering and summering with sclerotia on soil or diseased remains at 20-30 ℃. The pathogen is resistant to low temperature, producing a large number of spores at 7-20 ℃, and the temperature in the shed at seedling stage is 15-23 ℃. When the relative humidity is above 90% or there is water film on the surface of seedlings, the disease is easy to occur. The disease is most likely to occur during the flowering period and will be aggravated in case of continuous rain or cold current and strong wind.
