Introduction
\nValidamycin is an antibiotic produced by actinomycetes, with strong systemic activity. It is easily absorbed by microbial cells and quickly transmitted within them, interfering with and inhibiting their growth and development. It\u2019s a selective antibiotic bactericide, highly effective against rice sheath blight. It can also be used against rice smut, wheat sheath blight, vegetable damping-off and root rot, cotton, bean damping-off, rice small sclerotial disease, and corn large spot disease. It inhibits trehalase activity in plants, insects, and fungi, causing trehalose accumulation in genetically modified plants.<\/p>\n
Properties
\n– The pure product is a white amorphous powder with no definite melting point. Easily soluble in water, soluble in methanol, dioxane, and DMF, slightly soluble in ethanol, and insoluble in acetone, benzene, and petroleum ether. Highly hygroscopic and weakly alkaline. Stable in neutral and mild acidic or alkaline media at room temperature, but decomposes easily in strong acids or bases.
\n– Formulations mainly include soluble powder and aqueous solutions, with various combined preparations available.<\/p>\n
Uses
\n– Microbial bactericide mainly used to prevent and treat rice sheath blight, with both protective and therapeutic effects. Also used for small sclerotial disease, corn large spot disease, vegetable damping-off and root rot, as well as cotton, beans, and ginseng damping-off.
