Usage
Cyflumetofen (20% SC) is mainly used to prevent and control harmful mites on fruit trees, cotton, vegetables, and tea crops. The chart shows the insecticidal and acaricidal spectrum of cyflumetofen. This chemical is highly active against Tetranychus mites and Panonychus mites but has almost no activity against pests in the Lepidoptera, Homoptera, and Thysanoptera orders. It is effective against mites at all developmental stages, with much better control over juvenile mites than adult mites. This agent does not show cross-resistance with other acaricides and has significant control effects on mite strains that have developed resistance. Field trials indicate that 20% cyflumetofen is effective against spider mites at an active ingredient dose of 100–800 g/ha. No phytotoxicity has been observed at standard usage doses.
Mode of Action
Cyflumetofen is a non-systemic acaricide, mainly working through contact. After it enters the mite, it is metabolized inside the mite to produce a highly active substance called AB-1. Test results show that AB-1 strongly inhibits the mitochondrial complex in Tetranychus urticae, with an IC50 of 6.55 nM. As cyflumetofen is continuously metabolized into AB-1 in the mites, the concentration of AB-1 increases, progressively suppressing the mites’ respiration. Ultimately, this leads to effective control. Therefore, it is concluded that the main mode of action of cyflumetofen is the inhibition of mite mitochondrial respiration.
