CAS: 120116-88-3
Chemical Formula: C13H13ClN4O2S
Properties:
Light yellow powdery solid with a melting point of 152.7°C. Its vapor pressure is less than 1.33×10^-5 Pa. At 20°C, its solubility in water is 0.121 µg/mL (pH=5).
Uses:
Sulfonamide fungicides are highly biologically active against oomycete fungi. Its main action is to block electron transport in the cytochrome bc1 complex within the mitochondria of oomycete pathogens, disrupting energy supply.
Overview:
Cyazofamid is an effective fungicide primarily used in crop protection in agriculture. It belongs to the triazole class of fungicides and is known for its broad spectrum, fast action, and long-lasting effects.
The chemical name of cyazofamid is 2-(4-cyanophenyl)-4-methyl-1,3-thiazole. It appears as a white crystalline solid, almost insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents like alcohol, acetonitrile, and dichloromethane.
Cyazofamid mainly works by inhibiting the cytochrome Bc1 complex in the fungal cellular respiration chain. It can control various pathogenic fungi such as rust, powdery mildew, and gray mold. As a fungicide, cyazofamid can be applied in multiple ways, including foliar spray on crops, seed treatment, and soil treatment.
Cyazofamid is mainly produced through synthetic reactions. Usually, a proper amount of 4-cyanophenylamine reacts with chloromethyl methyl sulfide ester under basic conditions to generate an intermediate of cyazofamid, which is then further processed and purified to obtain the final product.
It has a certain level of toxicity, so it must be used strictly according to instructions and relevant safety protocols. Avoid direct contact or inhalation of cyazofamid, and wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, masks, and goggles. To prevent harm to the environment and humans, it should be stored properly, waste should be handled correctly, and it should not be mixed with other chemicals.
