Thifluzamide works well against wheat sheath blight.
Thifluzamide is effective against a wide range of fungal diseases and can be widely used on rice, wheat, peanuts, cotton, sugar beet, coffee, potatoes, turf, and other crops. Currently, it is mainly used in production to control sheath blight in rice and wheat.
Sheath blight is a common disease in wheat. Since there are no highly resistant wheat varieties available, chemical control is the main prevention method. Sheath blight is a high-temperature, high-humidity disease, with its occurrence and development highly influenced by temperature and humidity. It develops quickly when humidity is high and temperature is suitable.
In recent years, thifluzamide has shown good effects in controlling rice sheath blight and also performs well in controlling wheat sheath blight. Thifluzamide can be applied via foliar spray, seed treatment, and soil treatment, with foliar spray being commonly used for controlling sheath blight. According to relevant experiments, spraying 24% thifluzamide suspension at 10 ml and 20 ml per mu (Chinese unit of area) on wheat on March 5 and March 15 before the stem elongation stage resulted in 30-day control rates of 94.38%, 97.78%, and 97.41%, 97.41%, with no white heads. However, applying the same treatment after stem elongation on April 5 and April 15 significantly reduced its effectiveness. The experiment indicates that before stem elongation is the best time for controlling sheath blight. Using 10–20 ml of 24% thifluzamide suspension per mu effectively controls the disease, reduces white heads, and significantly improves yield.
Timing of spraying is extremely important for controlling sheath blight—make sure to apply on schedule. Shake the bottle well before preparing the solution. Do not let the spray liquid pollute water sources.
Uses:
Thifluzamide is a thiazolecarboxamide succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor. It is used on rice, cereals, and turf, effective against pathogenic fungi including Rhizoctonia, Puccinia, Bipolaris, Fusarium, and powdery mildew fungi. It is highly effective against basidiomycete diseases like damping-off. For foliar treatment of rice, cereals, and turf, the dosage is 125–250 g active ingredient per hectare. For seed treatment of cereals and non-cereal crops, the dosage is 7–30 g active ingredient per kg of seed. Thifluzamide provides excellent control of rice sheath blight, with a recommended dosage of 130–140 g active ingredient per hectare, and for rust on cereals, 125–250 g active ingredient per hectare.
