Physical and Chemical Properties: Bifenazate appears as white crystalline solid. Solubility (20°C): in water 2.1 mg/L; in organic solvents (g/L): toluene 24.7, ethyl acetate 102, methanol 44.7, acetonitrile 95.6. Partition coefficient (n-octanol/water): Log Pow = 3.5.
Uses: Bifenazate is a new type of selective foliar acaricide. It is not systemic and mainly used to control mites in their active phase but also has ovicidal effects on other mites, especially two-spotted spider mites. It works well against agricultural pests like citrus red mites, rust mites, yellow mites, short-haired mites, hawthorn leaf mites, carmine spider mites, and two-spotted spider mites.
Mechanism of Action: Bifenazate is a new selective foliar spray mite killer, non-systemic. It’s designed mainly for controlling active-phase leaf mites but also has ovicidal effects on some other mites, particularly two-spotted spider mites. Lab studies show it has no negative effects on predatory mites. Its mechanism is unique, acting on the γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in the central nervous system of mites. Effective at all developmental stages, it kills eggs and knocks down adult mites within 48-72 hours. It has minimal impact on predatory mites, making it great for integrated pest management. It’s non-toxic to plants and has long-lasting effectiveness.
